DEVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
; _ I A MEETING of the Devonport Borough Council . 1 was held iast night, there being present: — The Mayor [Mr. Win. Handler). Messrs. W. L. rimewell, K. J. Osborne, 0. liribbin. T. '• Crunch, 0. MeKenzie, H. Wilding, B- ii. iroude, P. W. McCallam, and D. W. McLeanDrainage: A petition, signed by 47 residents of tlie norm-weal part of the borough, was presented by Mr. McUalluni, asking the Council to take in hand a scheme for the . purpose of draining that portion of the borough. The matter was referred io the Legal and Finance committee Building Permits: Messrs. Don. (inlanders. J. jiarvey. and Williams and Yeolund were grunted permission to erect building* >'» various parts of the borough, subject to the usual conditions. Takapaiut Water Supply: The Mayor, who had given notice of motion, moved. " Thatthe motion of April 21. 1903, in regard to the charge for water at Lake Takapuna. at the rate of Is 6d per 1000 gallons, parable quarterly, with a minimum supply of 10.0:0 3 ' - lons, be rescinded." This was carried witU- ■ out discussion. The following recommenda- -„■< lions by the WtTTerworkg Committee were then adopted:-That a revaluation be made,. 'of all properties at Takapuna where water i* ; supplied by the Council:" also that meter : charges be as follows; (l) In cases where : - annual valuations are £25 or under, the mild- ■;'.:■■' mum be 10.000 gallons per half-year, at Is ; 6d per 1000 gallons; (2) Where annual value* I, exceed £25, the minimum be 10,000 gallon* ■: per quarter, at Is 6d per 1000 gallons. The committee further recommended, and it *»» agreed, that where any person requested the Council to put In a meter, such should be done at a charge of 15 per cent, on cost. By-laws: On the motion of Mr. McOa-Uum. it was resolved, "That the Council so int0,,,..„ committee to consider the whole question of the by-laws." The Mayor, Messrs. Oribbin, ■ Cranch, McCallnm. and Timewell were, appointed a sull-comniittee to deal with th< matter and report to the Council in 'commit tee. Koad Metal: Mr. Cranch moved, "That tlh foreman, of works report on the advisabtHU of procuring: metal from Kwnzitoto, and cost of same for permanent roads."- This wa* agreed, to.
