HUNTING.
PAR HANG A CLUB. The hounds met, on Monday instead of Thursday as previously announced, the alteration being made, to suit, the farmers. The meet was at the Monument, Otahtihit, and a move was then made to Mr. Isaac ('ray's farm at; Papatoefoe, where-several paddockwere drawn in the vicinity of the swamp opposite Mr. Gray's private residence, but, without success. A start- 'was then made for Mr. Murphy's properly, but blank was also drawn here. A gootl hare was, however, round on that part, of Mr. Gray's farm adjacent to Mr. Murphy's, and a pleasant run through the swamp over gome and wire country ensued, and from' there up on to the hills and scoria country. A fresh hare. was here chopped and killed. The limitman lost very: little timo" in putting hounds on to-the original scent again, and a line was made back to the original starting point, where puss was lost. A fresh hare was put. up in the adjacent swamp, hut was soon lost. A large clump of tea-tree bush about half a mile away was then tried, and the hounds soon gave tongue, but puss having plenty of opportunity evaded her pursuers. Eventually a strong hare was seen making its way out of the busk She headed for Mr. Hon they Baker's land,, doubled into Messrs. Time' and Levin's properties, and crossed the road again over into Gray'* swamp, and here the scent began to get bad, and the hounds were still busy endeavouring to run puss to earth when most, of the followers began to leave for home. This was one of the fastest, runs that the club has had for years. Amongst those following were: Miss N. Gorric on Aroha, Miss Lloyd on The Abbott,. Miss Harris on Highflyer. Mr. Bullock Webster (deputy-master) on Liberty, Sir Robert Lockhart on Waiuku, Mr. K. P. . O'Rorke on Cloister and a gray, Mr. Isaac Gray on a black. Mr. Smalcs on Aofca, Mr. Hen. Myers on Bowler, Mr. C. Davis on K'ilcairn, Mr. Patterson on a bay, Mr. Tnff Webster on a bay, Master Harris on Spring Flower, Mr. Cam. Selby (huntsman) on Barrister, and Mr. Frank Selby (whip) on Mountain. Tho*--driving were: Mr. A. Selby, Mrs. H. Crow ther and Miss Crow I her.
