CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE. THE first meeting of the newly-elected Auckland City District Schools Committee' was held m the -Nelson-street school last night There were present: Messrs. P.. M Mack-iy (chairman), J. M Bennett. P. E. X Gaud in' Win. Robins, E. Sheraon. J. Trcvithiek, and J. F. Pullen. Napier-street School: A letter was received from the, headmaster of the Napier-street school asking that the-interior of the school should be painted. Mr. Bennett pointed out that the walls were in a "dirty, dismal, dilapidated condition and it was resolved to tag© steps to have the mutter attended to.: Bible Instruction: Br. Walker save notice to move at nest meeting-. " That this committee purchase lor the schools of Auckland a sufficient number of copies of the Ten Commandments to be placed in each classroom for the moral training of scholars." ST.
