IN MEMORY OF THE BRAVE.

[l(Y TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Christch urch, Monday. The comrades of the troopers who fell in South Africa held a memorial service yesterday afternoon in Victoria Square, at the base of the statue of the late Queen Victoria. The ceremony was arranged by the newly-formed corps of Canterbury Scouts, who invited all returned troopers in North Canterbury to join with them in paying this tribute to their comrades- who never returned. The Scouts, numbering about 40, paraded in khaki, under the command of Captain Keddell, and were followed by about 25 other returned troopers,'the majority in mufti and a few in volunteer uniform. A memorial address was given bv Archdeacon Averill, and a jamnber of wreaths were arranged around the railing which guards the statue.
