A FRIGHTENED PRISONER.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION".] Chrjstchurch, Wednesday. William Bell, the prisoner who attempted to escape from Lyttelton Gaol on Thursday, was charged at- Lyttelton to-day. Accused said he had run away because he was frightened, but he would not attempt to escape again. Mr. Cleary, governor of the gaol, said he did not wish to press t'lie charge against the young fellow, who had only six weeks of his sentence to serve, and Mi. Bishop convicted and discharged the accused on the present charge.
