ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER
ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Thk case in which Daniel Kennedy, a middle-aged man, and a. lithographer by occupation, was charged with attempting to murder his wife, Olive Kennedy, by discharging a revolver at her, was again before Mr. C. C, KetUc, . S.M., at ilie Police Court yesterday.
On the previous day the evidence for the prosecution had concluded, and His Worship had promised to decide yesterday whether he should commit the accused for trial at the Supreme Court or not. Yesterday Mr.' Kettle suggested that the police might consider the advisable.ne.ss. of reducing the charge, but Inspector Cullen decided to leave Hie rase in His Worship's hands. Mr. Kettle thereupon committed the accused for trial.
Mr. J. R. Lundon, who appeared for Kennedy, asked for bail, remarking that Mrs. Kennedy.- bad no objection whatever to such a course. . .
Mrs. Kennedy (to His Worship): I wish him to be free. He/has promised to. leave the country, and that is good enough protection. I do not wish the matter to go any further. Mr. Kettle: It is your desire that he should be let out on bail?
Mrs. Kennedy: Yes. Mr. Kettle: Very well, he will be admitted to bail in two sureties of £100 each, and himself in £200. Bail was immediately forthcoming, and the necessary declaration having been signed, the accused was liberated.
