CONDITIONS ON THE WEST COAST. • For some days past heavy seas have been . running along the west coast, with gales and rain at intervals. The Union Company's steamer Penguin which arrived at Oneiiunga from Wellington and New Plymouth on Saturday morning experienced a very rough time. While on the run down on the return trip to NeW Plymouth wild seas were encountered. The Penguin arrived at Onehunga shortly before sex en j a.m. on Saturday, and left again for New ( Plymouth at 10.50 a.m., reaching the lat- £ ter port about 12 o'clock' the same night. * An hour later the steamer sailed. again for { Onehunga, at which port she berthed fit t two o'clock • yesterday afternoon.
