Club (Auckland) was completed on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the local club by 51 runs. lii the first innings Waihi scored 11* rung, and Y.M.C.A. 63, and in the second innings Waihi put together lOi ruin for the loss of three wickets. The festival of the Resurrection was fittingly celebrated at St. John's Anglican Church on .Sunday, the interior of the building being tastefully decorated for the occasion. The vicar's (the Rev. The annual picnic in connection, with the Commanded District High School was held in Mr. Bates' paddock on Thursday last, and was a complete success. The day Was all that could be desired, and a most enjoyable day was spent by both young and old. There was a large attendance, and a good sports programme was got off, the arrangements being in the hands of Miss Fuller tf'iid Messrs. Tanner, A. H. Gatland, and R. E. Jamieson. The hospital demonstration on Sunday afternoon was marred by inclement- weather. There was, however, a good muster at the hospital ground. A procession was formed at Fttrey's bridge, headed by the fire brigade, followed by the volunteers under Lieutenant Gatland, and the cadets, commanded by Captain Et. E. Jamieson, the Friendly Societies, vehicles containing the Hon. .las. Met if van, the chairman and members of the County Council, hospital trustees, and others. On arrival at the grounds the choir, under Mr. Arthur McNeil, rendered several) selections. The gathering, notwithstanding drawbacks, was very successful, and resulted iii £22 7s lOd being raised, which, with the Government subsidy, will mean £49 5s 2d towards the hospital funds.

A basket social in aid of the funds of the Mercury Buy Hospital, which was held in the Mill Hall oil Saturday evening, was attended by fully 200 people, and was an unqualified success. The baskets were sold by Mr. Ben. B. .Johnson, of Onrtimandel and there was* spirited bidding. Three prizes were presented by the committee to the ladies Whose baskets realised the highest prices. The first fell to Miss Rita, McGregor, the second to Miss I'rendergasl, and the third to Miss Cheesemap. The total receipts were £72 17s 6d. which, with the Government subsidy, means about. £160 to the funds.of the hospital. The committee, and especially the enthusiastic secretary (Mrs. C. O'Brien) ore deserving of very great praise for the- success achieved.
