THE CASH COUPON SYSTEM.
Sir—ln direct opposition to the views of your ' correspondents, " Mr. Johnson ' and "One Who Pays," on this subject, I venture to say that were it introduced generally it would prove the finest thing ever introduced here: beneficial alike, to buyer and seller. The shopkeeper would be able to pay his bills when due, without dunning, or getting bank overdrafts, and the consumer would have the satisfaction of eating his own food, if cash was compulsory for the necessaries of life, a great many people would have to go without the so-called luxuries. There would be far less drinking, loafing, gambling, racing, theatre-going, car-riding, etc. ft would do more to enforce the practice of common honesty than half the sermons preached on the ethics of Christianity. Though the bakers have shelved the matter for the present, they will do wisely by reconsidering: it, and insisting on having all their wages after earning them. GltErnKU'D.
