Mr. Asquith i rightly desired that the two great spending Departments, the War Department and that of the Admiralty, I should have their heads in the | House of Commons. WEST DERBYSHIRE SEAT. EARL OF KERRY ELECTED. I (Received April 17. 12.15 am.) London, April 16. j The Earl of Kerry (Unionist) has | been elected unopposed to the West j Derbyshire seat in the House of | Commons, vacated by the Hon. Victor Cavendish, consequent on the latter succeeding to the title of his father, the late Duke of Devonshire. 'Die Earl of Kerry is the eldest son of Lord Lansdowne. He is 36 years of age. He served in the South African war. and was mentioned in despatches, receiving the D.S.O. The Hon. Victor Cavendish (now Duke of Devonshire) married a daughter of Lord Lansdowne, and is 40 years of age.
