[BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington , Friday. Sidney "Mitchell Barnes, well-known as a balloonist, was charged with wife desertion at Waimate. It was alleged that he contemplated a flight from the country. Barnes was remanded to appear at Waimate on the 18th inst., bail being fixed at self, in £80, and two sureties of £W each.
