EASTER TOURNAMENT. The various bowling greens of the city and suburbs were gay and busy yesterday, the i occasion being the opening of the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association ? Easter J tournament. Owing '.•> the absence or a j car service, no official opening was arranged, i players journeying: quietly to the various greens and commencing their respective matches. Competition was keen throughout the dav, some of the matches producing exciting finishes. Keen interest in the matches was evinced by club partisans, particularly the ladies, the fine day attracting large numbers to the greens. King 9yds, Nicholson —, St&usbury —. METROPOLITAN CLUB'S SPORTS. The inaugural meeting of the Metropolitan Athletic Club was held yesterday, at the Alexandra Park, in beautiful weather. There was an attendance of about 500 persons, and the racing was good. Messrs. T. Roberts, J. J. Taylor, and Chas. Robinson acted as judges, Mr. Heald as timekeeper, Mr. J. Stanaway as starter, -and Mr. Thwaites as handieanper. The arrangements, in the hands of Mr. H. A. Lee. were well carried out. The following are the results:—
