" *■ j The first, meeting of the third Board undel * - the Government Railway Superannuation Fund Act, 1902, was held to-day, there being present: The Hon. W. Hall-Jones,; Minister for Railways (in the chair), the Solicitor-General, the Public Trustee, the a ! General Manager for Railways, Messrs. A. I Graham, of Titnaru, and R. M Isaacs, of Wellington, representing the first division, ; and Messrs. N. Pepper, M. Thomas, and J. Dawson, representing the second division. The Board dealt with 14 cast of retirement, and passed allowances in connection therewith totalling £878 per year. Re- . - funds of contributions amounting to £4££ , were made' with respect to 54 persons, who ~J had been contributors to the fund. An allowance of £18 per year was made to an engine-driver's widow, and £13 per year to the posthumous child of >. stationmaster. It is understood that the income of the • fund last yea- was approximately £51,000, and that the payments made from the fund ?|J| amounted to £35,000.
