THE COMING ELECTIONS.

INTEREST IN CHRISTCHURCH. [by TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Chkistchitkch, M onday. .An examination of several of the electoral rolls now in course of preparation reveals that public interest in the next election is being awakened. Large numbers of applications for enrolment and transfers from other electorates are being dealt with daily and the registrars in the (city electorates particularly are kept hard at work. The alteration of boundaries has caused a great deal of confusion. Two registrars, who were approached yesterday by a press reporter, stated that the map?, supplied did not enable them to give information to people outside their own districts. They suggested that in the cities there should be •a central bureau at which information regarding the city and adjoining country electorates should be available lor people desiring to enrol oi transfer. ft- was stated that the Government does not intend to make a house-to-house canvass this year, the reason suggested being that the work will be thoroughly done by the contending parties. On the question of nolicense it was also suggested that these parties would, when the time for hearing objections arrived, attend to the purging of the rolls, and a hint was given that there would be hundreds, ii not thousands, of objections in the city electorates.
