Kerr, jiui.. points out that Ferric missed a, win here as follows:— 18-14 16-11 10-6 15-10 24-20 s—l 2- 9 9-15 14— 9 11—16 5—14 M. wins. 20-16 1— 5 11-15 9-5 16-11 14-- 9 The following incident occurred during a match ployed between the Kilnlmrst and Harlshead Clubs, which goes to prove the composure of draughts players :—Whilst the match was m proKress a lid rushed in, crying the building was on fire This statement should have been sufficient to have caused an immediate pause, but not so with draughts players. On learning that the firemen had the conflagration in hand, the players kept close, to their games, but all at once, and to their discomfort, streams of water began to pour down from overhead, and swamped both them and their boards, when they reluctant were forced to remove their tables to a dry coiner of the room. The fire was eventuallygot under, without any fatal results.
