On learning that the firemen had the conflagration in hand, the players kept close, to their games, but all at once, and to their discomfort, streams of water began to pour down from overhead, and swamped both them and their boards, when they reluctant were forced to remove their tables to a dry coiner of the room. The fire was eventuallygot under, without any fatal results.
