'I'm-, Wellington Harbour Board to-day decided to obtain a report from its officers on the matter erf providing improved facilities for mail (and therefore passenger) connection between railway trains and steamers trading between Wellington and Lyttelton. Only two objections were filed against the Timaru borough valuations, but when the Court sat this morning to hear these neither party appeared, and the magistrate signed the. roll, which now stands at £90,704, wit limit alteration. A resolution was passed placing on record appreciation of the services rendered by the Hon. iJ. A. Millar, in acting as chairman of the conference. t
