INHERITING A FORTUNE

AN OLD LADY'S WEALTH. [from GUI! own- CUIUUJSrOKDEST.] Svi)sky, March 11. Mrs. Hachki, Ai,bin has made Iter will. The importance of this item consists in the 1 act that Mrs. Albin, an old lady who is an inmate of the Coast Hospital, not far from the city of Sydney, has received news that she is entitled to a fortune estimated at £250,000, as the next-of-kin of the late Mr. J. Lawsori Whitley, a wealthy Irishman of County Armagh. Mrs. Albin, who is a widow and a nonagenarian, ran away from home to marry, and came out to New South Wales in the early days, with her husband, a painter, who obtained work at his trade without difficulty, for in those days work was plentiful and wages high. He, has now been dead for some years, and his widowhas had to obtain the old-age pension. Not long since, she went into the Coast Hospital as a patient, suffering from an affection of the heart. She now pathetically says that this money has come too late to be of any use to her, that she has not many years to live, and that she is quite contented as she is. Her demeanour as a woman of wealth is in no degree different from that which she exhibited when in poverty. But a number of people who now , describe themselves as "old friends," regard her in quite a different light, and she has received shoals of letters from those people, who had completely forgotten her existence until news came of her inheritance. By her will, made this week, Mrs. Albin has left her money to her son George, a resident of Surry Hills.
