CLOSER SETTLEMENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. — CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Sunday. The Culverden Estate, on the Christ-church-Culverden railway line, has been taken compulsorilv by the Government for the purposes of closer settlement, and a Compensation Court will be held to determine the amount to be paid by the Government to the owners on Monday. The area of the. estate is 25,155 acres, and the value is something over £100,000. Mr. Justice Denniston will be the presiding judge.
