THE STEAMER SEIZURE
SATISFACTION DEMANDED. By Telegraph Press Association.— Copyright. (Received March 9, 11.10 p.m.) TOKIO, March 9. Japan on Thursday reiterated her demand regarding the seizure of the steamer Tatsu Main, off Macao, and intimated that in the absence of a prompt reply she might he compelled to take action to uphold the dignity of the nation. The Government of Pekiu on Friday expressed deep regret fit the removal of a Japanese flag, and promised to punish the official implicated, and also offered to reply further regarding the seizure of the arms and ammunition.
EXCITEMENT IN JAPAN. (Received March 9, 11.45 p.m.) London, March 9. The Tokio correspondent of the Times reports thai the nation is greatly excited over the Tatsu Maru seizure. The Japanese consignor and Portuguese consignee, he says, strictly complied with all the legal formalities.
