MEETINGS.
FOUNTAIN OF FRIENDSHIP LODGE. A special summoned meeting of the Fountain of Friendship Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U. was held on Saturday evening for the purpose of initiating Sir ,1. G. Ward and Messrs. 0. H. Poole. M.P., C. D. Grey, John Patterson, P. J. Nerheny, and 0. Wheeler. Bro. F. McCuet occupied the noble grand's chair, Bro. C. A. Burrow the vice-grand's chair, Bro. E. Leydon, P.P.G.M., the grandmaster's chair. Bro. H. A. A. Le Houx (prov. deputy-grandmaster) and Bro. John McLeod (district secretary) acted as conductors. The initiatory lecture was delivered by Bro. E. Leydon, P.P.G.M. After the initiation of the candidates Bro. J. G. Ward delivered an address on the friendly society movement. Bro. H. A. A. Le Houx, Prov D.0..M., on behalf of the lodge, presented Jsro. Ward with a handsome silver-mounted cigar case, suitably inscribed, as a memento of his initiation into the order. After an address by the district secretary (Bro. John McLeod), in which he dealt with the progress of the order generally and that of the fountain of Friendship Lodge in particular the honours of the order were conferred on' the newly-initiated brethren, to which Bros. Poole and Nerheny responded.
KESWrCK CONVENTION. A meeting of the Executive Committee in connection with (lie mission of the Rev. Charles Inwood, of Keswick, for the "Deepening of (lie Spiritual Life," was held yesterday afternoon in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms. The Rev. W. Gray Dixon presided. The lion, treasurer reported that after paying all expenses a balance of £3 remained to credit. It was resolved that this amount be placed in the Savings Bank in the meantime. It is expected that another deputation may be sent to the colonies from the Keswick Convention at some future time. Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs. Craston and Hooton for their help in connection with the organ and choir. The trustees of the Tabernacle were also thanked for their assistance. The Rev. C. Inwood is expected from the South at the end of the week, and his last meeting will bo at the Tabernacle on Sunday evening. Mr. Inwood will leave for London via Fiji and Vancouver next week.
