FEDERAL NAVIGATION BILL.

P. AND O. COMPANY HAIID HIT

By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.

Perth, March 5. .Advices received ill Perth indicate the likelihood that the P. and O. Company will terminate its contract with the Imperial Government for the carriage of the Australian mails in the event of the Federal Navigation Bill being placed upon the Statute Book.

The Bill contains provisions that steamers trading on the Australian coast shall be manned exclusively by white crews, and that the Australian rate of wages shali be pa-id while in Australian waters. The P. and 0. crews are largely composed of Lascars, and the passing of the measure into law would seriously increase expenses.
