FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY.

Wellington, Thursday. The railway traffic returns for the fourweekly period ended February 1, 1908, are published in this week's Gazette. The following are the principal figures for the Auckland section, the figures for the corresponding period of last year being given in parentheses:—Single tickets, 51,060 (42,216); return tickets, 72,682 (55,000): Total, 123,742 (97,216); season tickets, 3142 (2825). The revenue was as follows: — 1908. 1907. £ 8. d. X 8. li. Wellington-Napier-New Plymouth, 490 miles, £72,043, £43,677. The total revenue of North Island (953 miles) was £113,288, and the expenditure, £71,938. The total revenue for South Island (1521 miles) was £121,197, and the expenditure £85,313.
