AN OPEN VERDICT.
BODY FOUND IX THE HARBOUR.
An inquest was held yesterday before Mr. T. Grcsham, Coroner, at Oleeson's Hotel, into the circumstances of the death of Henry Kmipman, a man of about 70 years of age, whose body was found floating in the harbour. Evidence of identification was given by Arthur Johnson, mariner, who said he had known deceased for about 22 years. Deceased way mate of the ketch Fanuie, and ue (witness) saw him between 10 and 11 o'clock- on Saturday morning in the Waverley Hotel. He was then quite sober. The last time he saw Knapnian alive was in this house the same afternoon.
Dr. Moir also gave, evidence, and the jury returned a. verdict that death resulted from drowning, but that there was no evidence as to how trie deceased gut info (lie water.
