UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION,
THE ANNUAL MEETING. [by TELEGRAM.— association.] Napier, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the United Press Association was held at the Masonic Hotel today, the chairman of directors (Mr. G. Fenwick) presiding. Nearly all the shareholders were present. It was intimated that the association had secured the copyright for New Zealand of the narrative of the Antarctic expedition from Lieutenant Shacklelon, which was expected to come to hand next month. The Chairman spoke in feeling terms of the loss to the association by the recent death of the late Mr. J. 0. Wilkin, of the Lyttelton Times, who had been a member of the board of directors since 1894. A resolution of sympathy and condolence was passed by the members standing. Mr. H. Horton, of the New Zealand Herald, was elected as a member of the board in place of Mr. Wilkin. Wanganui was selected as the next place of meeting. The board met after the annual meeting and elected Mr. E. W. Knowles, of Napier, as chairman for the ensuing year.
