ROTORUA CARNIVAL.
PYROTECHNIC DISPLAY. ',';■■ FORTHCOMING EVENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRKSI'O.VDK.VT.] '"."'' Eotop.ua, Tuesday -The entertainment in the carnival grounds last evening consisted of a display of fireworks •which had been specially imported from Pain and Son. of London. The exhibition was held on two large pontoons anchored in the lake, about 100 yds from the shore, facing the ■ boat-house',' and as the night- was dark and calm the effect of the fireworks, added to that of a procession of about 20 boats manoeuvring around the pontoons, and burning brilliant-coloured lights, was extremely beautiful and picturesque, the reflections in the water constituting one of" the most attractive elements. Five hundred people ■ paid ■ for admission to the grounds, but fully twice that number witnessed the scene from points of vantage in the vicinity and from Pukeroa Hill. The bowling tournament, to be held on March 3, 4, 5, and 6, promises to be even more successful than that of previous years. Intimation has been received to the effect that all the leading Auckland clubs will be represented, as well as many country clubs.
