'APPLICATIONS CLOSING EOPv LARGE AREAS.
Applications will close at the Crown Lands Office, Auckland, to-day" for a large number of sections, chiefly on the cash purchase or occupation with right of purchase, or renewable lease tenure. In Selwyn a.nd Bickerstaffe settlements, and at Methuen, Cradock, and Matamata, .there are various sections for lease under the Land Act, 1892, and the Lands for Settlement Consolidation Act, 1900. . The remainder of: the. lauds are tinder the other form of tenure, and include , first-class land in the Otamatea County (Te Kuri survey district), section 7, Block 111., 101 acres, adjoining Mapau township. In Hokianga County (Waipoua survey district), sections 4 and 5, Block VII., section 11, Block VIII., section 11, Block X., and section 6, Block XL, are listed as second-class land, and are all fairly close to the Kaihii railway station. In the same county, but in the Tutamoe survey district, section 15. Block V., is opened; it covets an area of 360 acres of mixed forest. Whtingarei County, M'aungatapere parish, section 80, of 47 acres, is opened; in Waipu parish there is section 330, of 123 acres ; and in Iluarangi parish, sections 91 and'. 92, : totalling 226 acres. In Mareretu parish, 'Otaniatea County, section 150, embraces 61 acres, and section 1, Block XI., Tokatoka survey district, 51 acres. There are two good sections in Paremoremo parish, Waitemata County. Applications also close to-day for a large number of 'sections in South Auckland counties, amongst them being section.7b, Block IV., of 126 acres, near Otorohanga, ill Waitomo County (Orahiri survey district) ; section 6, Block IV., of 199 acres, in the same district; sections 1 and 12, of 359 acres, sections 2 and 3 of 328 acres, sections 5 and 10 of 361 acres, arid sections 7 and 9. of 360 acres, all in Block XII., Otanake survey district, of Waitomo. County; section 514, of . 284 acres, in. Whakatane County section .4, Block XIII., Raglan (Maramarua survey- district), of 354 acres section 5, of 418 acres, in the same locality; and section' 83, Ofcau parish, Ma nukau County, of 418 acres. • In the event of more than.one application being received for any section, a ballot will be held at the Crown Lauds Office on Tuesday, March 10.
