RIFLE-SHOOTING.
RUAHINE MEETING. [BY TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION.] Daxnevirke; Wednesday.The first annual meeting of' the Ruahine Rifle Association was held ou the Dannevirke range yesterday and to-day, and proved thoroughly successful. About 65 competitors took part, including representatives from Wellington, Opaki, Taradale, and the districts surrounding Dannevirke. Eight matches were fired the results being as follows : —
Hawke's Bay match: Rifleman Marshall, Puliiatua, 66 points. Glengarry match: Rifleman A. Herbert, Pongaroa, 63 points. Dannevirke match: Rifleman M, R. Jarvis, Taradale, 96 points. Ruahine match: Rifleman W. Franklin, 62 points. Consolation match: Rifleman F. Herbert, Pongaroa, 34 points. Ruahine shield: Dannevirke team. Grand aggregate match: Rifleman H. Smith, Taradale, 285 points. Champion belt: Rifleman J. R. Franklin, Weber, 270 points. Franklin shield: Taradale Rifle Club, 451 points.
