POLO.
The polo indulged in oh the Remuera ground last Saturday proved very enjoyable. Several regular players wero absent on holidays, and the games were consequently curtailed. A fair number of spectators witnessed the contests. The Misses Buckland entertained those present at afternoon tea.
Polo players will hear with pleasure that Messrs. Cole grove and W. K. I'loom fie Id intend giving assistance to the sport by acting as umpires for the corning season. Both are old players, and their judgment and coaching should' be much appreciated by the players. I hear that Sir Robert Lock hart has lien getting into practice. With a couple of good ponies, ho should soon be able to play a good game. I was pleased to see Mr. Bullock Webster having a game last Saturday. Suoh a good horseman will soon pick up the g:v>ia, and he should be of great service to the club. This afternoon play will commence at three o'clock sharp. A game will be played between the Bays {red colours)—H. Clark, W. Ching, J. Wynyard, and W. Dalton (with a handicap of two goals)—and Grey team (green colours)— H. Cotter, Captain (xathorne Hardy, A.D.C., Captain Lyon, A.D.C., and C. Crowther. Another game will be between teams representing the Saxons (rod colours) — Crowther, 11. Clark, Captain Hardy, Sir Robert Lockhart—and a team calling themselves the Danes (green colours) —J. \Vj,nyard, W. Dalton, Captain Lyon, and H. Cotter. Other games will also be arranged. Til© public are cordially invited. Mrs. H. Gorrie will dispense afternoon tea.
