Several members ot the Road Board were present, and expressed themselves in favour oi the scheme. It was decided to form a.committee to take charge of the matter and obtain subscriptions towards the memorial. Messrs. J. and R. Todd, R- LAbsolum. A. St urges, A. M. Sheppard, JBradv, W. Cunnold, T. W. Phillips, and Dr. Rowley, with Mr. Hall as treasurer, were elected a committee, with power to add to their number.

The canvass of the district made some time ago to collect funds for the proposed technical classes has resulted in a sum ot £35 being raised, and the president ot the Progressive League (Mr. A. Sturges) will again bring the matter under the notice of Mr Geo. George, with the view of advancing tin' establishment of the classes. With tlu donation of £20 promised by the Road Board, added _to the. subscriptions from the public, which the Government will subsidise, it is thought that sufficient money should be available to erect a building'large enough for the classes' first requirements. • Some dissatisfaction is being expressed with the telephone arrangements in the post office owing to the fact that two instruments are placed in the same room, with the consequence that tho.'e desirous of using the telephone hove to wait if the Department are transmitting messages. It the instrument for the use of the public was partitioned off from the service telephone it would obviate the difficulty. The marriage of Air. C. V. Stringer to Miss Clara Mildred Logan was celebrated on Wednesday in the Methodist Church by the Rev. R. Taylor. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Daisy Logan, the best man being Mr. A. Backhouse.'

HAMILTON. [from OUR . own correspondent.] Hamilton, Friday. The Hamilton Rifle Cadets will go into camp at Sydney Square to-morrow filter-, noon for their annual week's training. Captain Hood will be in command, and will have associated with him Lieutenants Rowe and Pearson. A church parade, which the Hamilton Band will also attend, will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church on Sunday, and a concert will be held in the camp on Wednesday evening. _ ■ A meeting at Frankton last night decided to take steps to have a "school established in tire district, and Messrs. Batt, Zcllman, and Gosling wore appointed a committee to obtain the necessary signalmen. * Thomas Ball, who had the base of his skull fractured by a fall front a horse at Raglan on the 2nd inst, was brought in to the. Waikato Hospital yesterday. The right side of his face is paralysed, and his light arm slightly affected. The Waikato branch of the Political Reform League has arranged for Mr. R. R. Martin, the league's organiser, to address meetings in the various centres throughout- the electorate during the next fortnight. The first meeting will be held at Whatawhata on Wednesday next.
