The figures already published wish r«» card to the output from the Wpihi mini for the year 1907 show a tot of £860,299, b:i* wo understand that this actual realisation of the bullies now afloat will yield a further surplus. It. is expected that th& total result* for the year will, yield not less than the .magnificent sum of £875,000. This return shows an increase of £37,073 over the output for the previous year, whilst the prospects for the current year also point to a further increase in the returns, as the additional crushing facilities now provided at Waikino should, shortly be in full operation. DURBAR. £46 FROM 10 TONS. The Durbar Gold Mining Company havo crushed 10 tons of general ore for a return of bullion valued at £9 12s 3d. GOLDEN PAH. A company is in course of formation to take over and work the Golden Pall mm# . of 18 acres adjoining the Old Hauraki ah (Joromambl. Prospecting lias been going on for some time on the property, and fold has been found in threoi separate places thereon in virgin country. AUPOURI. A representative of a local syndicate hsa proceeded to the Great Barrier to inspect, the Aupouri mine. Ho will secure sam« plea for assay, with a view to taking »o cption over the property. UENDIGO. A company is being formed locally to work an adjacent property to that of the Karangahake, and formerly known as the Karanguhako North, tinder thu title of tho Bendigo Gold Mining Company. Th» aiea held is 95 acres. The new company is to have a capital of £10,000 in 100,000 shares of 2a each. ' ■ KOMATA REEFS. The following information regarding operations in the Komata Reefs mine was contained in tho mine manager's report for the four weeks ended November '30 la?t:— 2 reef in the drive north ab No. 5 level was looking vory well, thorn being very little mullock to sort ont. The reef was 7ft wide, with a value of £3 3s per ton. No. 1 reef in the drive south from the first crosscut at No. 4 level was mixed with mullock at data of report and required a lot of sorting. Tho ore was worth a little less (£1 7s 9a) than tho previous month. Tlio width of the reef was 4ft. No. 1 reef in the drive north from the second crosscut at No. 4 level, was Bft wide, and worth lis 3d per ton.' There was an improvement in width and value iri the last few feet of driving. No. 1 reef in tho winze north at No. 4 level Improved in value during the last, few , feet of sinking, tho winze being on the east wall of tho lode. The latter was 3ft wide, and worth £4 !os. No. 2 reef in , the drive north at No. 4 level was split, up into small stringers, and this ore wan poor' (£1 5s 9d per ton). No. 1 reef in the drive north at No. 3 level had widened to Bft, but sft in width on tho east wall was poor, the only ore of any value being on the west wall. The average value was £1 3s 4d. In the various topes tho lodes were from 4ft to 9ft wide, with \alucs ranging from £2 to £3 per ton. No. 2 reef at No. 5 level looked well. No. 1 reef at No, 4 level in the south end showed a great improvement, in width and value. No. 1 reef at No. 3 level (second block) carried a Jot of good ore, which was much mixed with mullock. No. I reef in the third block at No. 3 level waa improving in the north end, and /them was also some fair ore in the south end. No. 2 reef in the first block at No. 3 level had improved in width and value, but required sorting. No. 2 reef in the second block at No. 3 level was pinching, but in the centre and south end the air# and value were maintained.

ASBESTOS AND CHROME DEPOSITS^ A valuable deposit of asbestos and chromic iron at Takaka, in the Nelson district, was taken up last year by a syndicate of Auckland gentlemen, -who despatched a trial lot of four tons to England to ascertain its value. At a meeting of the syndicate held last night ietuiri» we»e received which stated that although the parcel was crudely dressed owing to want of knowledge it was worth £20 per ton, and offers were made to take large quantities at better prion if properly dressed. The returns being so good, step* are now being taken to work the deposit in a systematic manner. Reports were also received with regard to the chrome deposits, which are very extensive, an average sample taken proving to be worttr from £2 to £3 per ton. SOUTHERN DREDGING RETURNS.
