HOW THE PRISONERS PASS THEIR TIME IN GAOL. The chief actors in the Venice murder drama, the Countess Tarnowska, her maid Perier, and her two lovers, the lawyer Prilukoff and the young aristocrat Naumoff,' accused of the murder of Count Kamarowski and of complicity therein, are still being examined : n secret by the judicial authorities. He writes touching letters to his father twice weekly, and distracts his thoughts by diligent .-.tudy of the Italian language. . The countess remains tranquil, sleeps soundly, eats heartily, smokes cigarettes, and reatls French novels, in which she takes great pleisure. Her father, Count O'Rurik, is expected to vieit her shortly. The maid Perier suffers from neuralgia, and has fits of weeping, lamenting iier fate and that of her aged mother, who is living alone in Lyons.
