INSPECTION OF FRUIT.

[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. It is the intention of* the biologist of the Agricultural Department, Mr. T. W. Kirk, who controls the work of fruit inspection, to at once bring the penal clauses of the Orchard and Garden Pests Act into operation. The inspectors have been instructed to make a. strict inspection of all orchards, fruit shops, and fruit auction rooms. The attention of shopkeepers and auctioneers is directed to the fact that if fruit showing either fungus diseases or insect pests is found in their possession, they are liable under the Act.
