ENTERTAINMENTS.

WEST'S PICTURES. Notwithstanding the fact that the season for West's Pictures closes at His Majesty's Theatre this week, the enterprising management presented a complete change of programme on Wednesday evening, when some specially interesting new-.films were shown. The season, which terminates on .Saturday night, has been a most successful one, and to this gratifying result Do Groen's Viceregal Band has materially contributed. Lovers of a good bioscopic entertainment should take advantage of the few remaining opportunities of seeing this exhibition. OPERA HOUSE. Fuller's Vaudovillo Company appeared before a largo audience last night. Salmon and Chester wore highly successful in their dramatic playlet. " The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter," and the Stagpooles caused much amusement, with their comedietta, " TheTurkish Bath." To-morrow night Davy's Marionettes, Pastor and Merle, Rud. Petersorn, R. H. Collins, Klaer's dogs and monkeys, xiammon and Wyatt, and Master Norman Mudford will contribute to the programme. THE PASSION PLAY. This morning at Messrs. Wildman and Arey'.s at 10 o'clock the plan will bo openod •for the above entertainment, which is to take place at His Majesty's Theatre on Christmas night. On Boxing Night tho Pollard Juvenile Opera Company will produce at His Majesty's Theatre Seymour Hicks' successful musical dream-play entitled "Blue Bell in Fairyland." Speaking of their performance the Chrisrtohurch Press says : " The production has as much scenery to manipulate as a pantomime, and the success achieved and tho smoothness with which the piece went as a whole, reflect the greatest possiblo credit on all concerned. The members of the company are all artists, their dancing being a special feature of the production ; in fact, quito as good as anything we have seen of the kind, and the acting is spontaneous and freo from tin- slightest suspicion of stiffness.. The whole production is a distinct artistic success." Tho company is at present concluding a very successful season in Wellington, and will arrive in Auckland on Wednesday morning, so as to give ample time to get ready for the opening performance. Tho box plan is now open at Messrs. Wildman and Arey's.
