Buttle, on behalf of the " Mission Trust: " \ '■': : '■ . : .. ■■. : ' - •' ~ " V " ;' Tiro proposal from your Board with reference to the Recreation, Ground and road at * Waikowhai has been before the trustees, and, lam instructed to inform you that the trus-■ ' tees have carefully considered the same, ; . ;. and are prepared, so far as they legally oaa iV , do so:— (1) To grant a lease for 999 year! , H r of a piece of land in .Waikowhai Bay;for \.. recreation ground purposes, and \ not to exceed thirty acres,-'at a rental of one shilling ■■••■ per acre if demanded. (2) To permit your ; Board to lay off a road from Ridge Road to . the beach, one chain in width, to give ac- ' cess to sueb reoreution reserve, and to bo.',- J laid out in accordance with a survey plaa *?/ to be furnished by your Board's * engineer. ~;; and to bo approved by the trustees, regard being had to the utilisation of such road for the purposes of '■ subdividing > the i|!M«;«fe land for residence sites. The said road to '' be called the Waikowhai Road, and to be ' formed so as to be available for wheeled as well as for foot traffic. The road to be : . fenced on both sides, from Ridgo Road to .;,; the sea, so that cattle shall not be able to■.--pass round either from or to the adjaoect lands, and the fence to! be contfnict*flJ|P| in the same manner as the'present bOun-.. dary fence, and of equally good material*»'• the ends of the boundary fence on'RjdgMg Road, where cut through, to be finished off with- nine-feet puriri straining posts, duly strutted and all drawn tight, but the.
