■i» — [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Wednesday. The Rev. Spo'ttiswood, of Potone, who has been appointed minister of the Waihi Baptist Church, will arrive here on January 1. The ordinary meeting of the Waihi branch of the H.A.C.B.S. was held last night, and was well attended. After the transaction of considerable routine -business, a social was held, several musical items contributing to an enjoyable evening. The annual picnic in connection with the Waitekauri public sohool was held on Saturday last in Mrs. Corbett's paddock. Waitekauri. There was a large attendance of children and adults, and a very pleasant day was spent. Sports wero provided for the ohildren, and in the evening a social was held in the Foresters' Hall. An employee of the Waihi Gold Mining Company named G. Robertson met with a painful accident at the Waiikino battery early this morning. While working at some machinery his left hand got caught in a cogwheel, and was badly crushed. Robertson was brought up to the Waihi Hospital fo>: treatment.
