A lot of work has been diverted from Otago to other harbours owing to the noncompletion of the Port Chalmers dock on the specified date (February 1). Since that date 14 large steamers, which would probably have been docked there if the new dock had been finished, have gone to other ports for accommodation. A new rule has been made by the University of, New: Zealand in regard to the matriculation examinations. It is that any town; which can supply 10 candidates is constituted an examination centre.
