AMERICAN PRESIDENCY.

MR. HUGHES' CHANCES. '

By Telegrath.—Press Association.—Copyright. London, November 19. A message from the New York correspondent of the Times indicates the growing influence of Mr. Hughes, Governor of New York, as a potential candidate for the Presidency.

The financiers, reading between the lines, infer from Mr. Hughes' speeches that he adopts Mr. Roosevelt's policies, but would be more Conservative in his methods of dealing with the trusts and corporations, Hence Mr. Taft, the President's first, choice, is less popular in New York State than Mr. Hughes.
