LIBERALS AND LABOUR.
A DISCOURAGED LEAGUE. [f.Y TELKORAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] CiraiSTCHURCH, Friday. At a meeting of the Political Labour league last night, after a discussion concerning tile demands of the league from the Government, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. J.' A. McCullough, " That this branch of the Independent Political Labour League, after a close study of the measures introduced by the Ward Ministry, solemnly and sincerely declare their conviction that the time has gone by when the workers should attach any faith to the promises made by the Liberal party, and they will not, in future, beg of Liberals or the Liberal party for those measures of reform so long advocated. This league, therefore, urges all those who have arrived at the same conclusion to rally round tho Labour pa. of the colony, who have determined to contest every seat for which a, suitable candidate can be obtained, with the object of securing from Parliament the justice denied by both the old political parties of the colony."
It was decided that the Christchurch, South Biccarton, Avon, and Lytteltou seats should be contested by the league's candidates at the next general election.
