STANDARD OIL TRUST.
THE RECENT PROSECUTION.
" ABSOLUTE INNOCENCE."
By Telegraph.—Press -Copyright.
New York, August 21. The directors of the Standard Oil Trust have published a pamphlet declaring the company's absolute innocence of any wrong-doing, particularly in connection with the case for which they were fined to the extent of five millions sterling. The directors assert that the verdict was obtained upon a. hair-split-ting technicality, aided by the exclusion of evidence which would have removed all presumption of guilt.
