At the native town of Joma, Kadavu,* Fiji, recently, a man and his wife were em-, ployed in renovating their house, when a. disastrous, accident occurred. The woman laid hold of a gun to remove it- to-some mote convenient place, and, in the act of; doing so, the gun went oft' at close quartet*, shattering all the lower portion of th» jaw and leaving a protruding tongue with* no protection to the throat. The unfortunate woman can neither speak nor eat., it was surmised at first that the husband had, 'attempted the tile of Ins wife.
