AUCKLAND ATHLETIC CLUB. The committee of Hie Auckland Athletic Club have decided to Tim a 100 yds championship tomorrow night in the usual novice handicap. B. R. Day and L. C. McLaehlan, anions: others, have entered for the event. WHANGAREI DISTRICT SCHOOLS' ASSOCIATION. [.BY TELEGRAPH".— CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Monday. The annual meeting of the Whangarei District Schools' Amateur Athletic Association was held on Saturday, when the report and balance-sheet were adopted. It was decided to present medals and photographs to the successful competitors at. the last sports meeting. A battalion parade is to be held in connection with the distribution of these trophies for the purpose of collecting the scholars together and securing the. attendance of the interested public. A sub-committee was appointed to select a suitable banner for presentation each year to the school., gaining the greatest number of points. For the current year Whangarei school will hold the banner, having secured mast points. At the inaugural, meeting the various officers elected were as follows:—Mr. Mandcr, M.H.R., patron; Mr. W. Joll, president; ami 38 vice-presidents; Mr. If. W. Crawford, secretary and treasurer, with Mr. W. Denipsey to assist; Mr. F. liiggeneon, auditor.. The council is to consist of the headmasters'- of affiliated schools. The next sports meeting will take place on December 4. The president explained that the association's prime object was ,to promote clean, healthy athletic spirt, free' of the allurements of monetary gain and apart from the gambling element. Over 20 schools are reprei sented in the association.
