GOVERNMENT BOARDS.
Sir,-*-At present a- few are clamouring f<\ the Government to create boards? to cop+ft* food prices, etc.' If they are to be ore a pa-' with what it was going to (Jo for the people, viz., by creating State Accident and lire Insurance Departments at reduced rates, on making inquiry I find that the lion and the lambs are both charging the same rates, l»th being opposed to working, unless at a fair profit., which proves that when the Government was forced to compete it found out the insurance companies were not as bad as painted. The Government is running the railways, and has absolute control of the carrying' power of the colony, it» \ rates- are the highest in the Australasian i colonios, and I think, if it was to start by f putting its railways up to ;date, and.- reducing its rates on all food stuffs' would bo much better than trying to experiment with other business that it is also ignorant of. S Vlj,' ■ Citizen. .
