COLLINS' WRITING COMPETITION.
"Sir, — have seen in your columns, under the above heading, a letter from the chairman of the Taupiri School Committee, and shall Iks glad if you will favour mc with space, for a few lines in reply. \ln the firstplace, the roll number of the Paeroa school for the time mentioned was a little over 300,; instead of 400, \ and the number ■of prizes awarded to the school for the year was not 21, but 25. It is of no uso to make comparisons of the respective sizes of the scores of schools engaged in the competition, but I should like to say that whatever may have been the very creditable record of the Taupiri school for the year 1905 it does not hold good as leading for three years in succession, and this, after all, is the subject of the congratulation referred to. > > ■;. ! , W. Marsh, :' ■ v Chairman Paeroa School Committee.
