Opani-Turua, Road: W. Hartlv, £20 2s 6d; E. Brown, £20 19s; J. Dynes, £17.55. No tender was 'accepted, all being -above- the estimate. Wharepoa Road: I'. McConnell, £85 (accepted); J. W. Rickit, £96 ss. Upper landing to Tairua: Wright and Jen-kin, £257; G. Cnlpan, £260; C. Odium, £197 (accepted). Moanataiari Creek Road : J. Porteous, £9 19s 6d; H. McGuinn, £9; J. Winder, £9; D. Donnelly, £B.los (accepted). An application from S. Stevens, of Tapu, for aid to prospecting to drive 100 ft was referred to the Mines Department. The secretary of the Thames Hospital Board) wrote asking the Council'to reconsider the matter of the expenditure of £1000 for a sanatorium, and that in view of the fact that the other local bodies bad approved of the expenditure of. £500 for that purpose the Council sanction an expenditure of the reduced amount of £500. It was resolved that the Council agree to the proposed expenditure of £500.

The Council agreed to make application for the following Government.grants for necessary road works throughout the district:Puriri to Neavesville, £500; Neavesville to Golden Belt, £250; Golden Belt to Puketul, £250; Ptiketui to Hikuai, £250; Hikuai to Tairua, £250; Golden Belt battery road. £100; Hikutaia to Whangamata wire track, £200: Omahii to Whangamata, £200 Thames to Hikutaia, £500: Thames to Waikowau, £500; Tararu Creek, £50; Ohio Creek, £50; Moanataiari Creek, £50; Waiotahi Creek, £50; Karaka Creek, £50; Hape Creek, £100; Crosbie Settlement Road, £50; Tapu Creek, £50; Tapu to Kapowai, £250; Tairua River bridge (additional), £250; Otanui Road, £100;- Matatoki Road and drain, £300; Kauneranga Vallev, £200 Wharepoa district, roads, £500; Spicer's Road, £100; Opani to Netherton, £350; Waitakaruru to Hazard's Road, £500; main bridge over Thames River, £5155. It was also resolved to make application for the proposed expenditure of timber and flax "halves for the following:— Crosbie's Road, £22 lis lOd; Big Beetle Road, £50; Tapu to Kapowai, £150; Puriri to'Tairua, £308 6s lid; cross and creamery roads, £137 8s 2d.
