The "seals which were so well treated at the Christchureh Exhibition grounds, and had got into the way of expecting their daily necessaries in the way of fish found for —now that they have been turned adrift to find for themselvesdo not know quite which way to turn. They have been up and down the north beach off Leithfield and off Kaiapoi, and one of them went up the Kaiapoi River as far as the railway bridge, apparently in search of the Exhibition grounds. 'They have been playing havoc .with the nets at the mouth of the river, and the owners have sworn to exact retribution if they do it again. Two of them have more than once been seen basking on the beach of Pegasus Bay, and they seem to have no idea of making for their original habitations.
