HARVEST NEAR AT HAND.
By Telegraph.— Association.— Copyright.. London, May 31. Advices from Shanghai say that the end of the famine in China is approaching a termination. The crops are thin, but in a condition favourable to a good yield. THE DUNEDIN FUND. . [BY TELEGRAM OWN CORRESPONDENT.] , Dtjnedin, Saturday. The Outlook famine relief fund has now reached a total of £2090. The Rev. Mr. Adon has during the week sent additional drafts for £600 to China, £500 being forwarded to Miss Reid, and £300 to the Rev. J. W. Stevenson. This makes a. total of £2000 remitted to date. Messrs. Permewan, Wright and Co., of Sydney, have written to say that they will make no charge for receiving ; : exUnion Steam Ship Company's boats; and shipping to China steamers, 200 cases of food donated by Messrs. Irvine and Stevenson. ,• , •
The Ofcago Harbour Board will probabl; forego the outward wharfage dues, so tha a handsome present will go from Dunedh absolutely free of ■ cost. ,
