*, Red Gauntlet at once became prominent, and running round the first turn, was half-a-lcngth clear of Probable. Going along the back, Red Gauntlet had drawn two lengths clear of. Probable, Astrakhan and Idasa bringing up tho rear. Astrakhan moved up as they raced to the lav turn,: and commencing tho ascent of the hill Red Gauntlet - was overt-, two -" lengths . elear :of * Ivanoflf. At the distance Apollodoris and Harvest both challenged the leader, and in an exciting finish tothe post Harvest beat Red Gauntlet by a neck, whilst Apollodoris was ; a similar distance away third.
