NEW BRACELETS.

There is no doubt that the fashions of elbow sleeves has certainly led to the renewed popularity in bracelets. One of the new features to remember in connection with bracelets is that the smart woman is not content to wear one only on each arm now, but hangs four or five on one arm and wears none at all, or perhaps a single bangle, on the other. The ultra-fashion-able" woman will not wear the same number of bracelets on both arms, and her bracelets will match in colour, tone, even though entirely different in design and cost. For example, she will i not wear turquoises and emeralds on the same arm, as the colours will not harmonise. •

I A new design in the costlier bracelets is a very narrow band of finely-braided platinum, scarcely an eighth of an inch wide, supporting an elaborate diamond ornament j which reaches almost or quite across the wrist. This may be in the design of a bow, a flower, or a conventional pattern. Against a gold band the diamond ornament would not be nearly so effective as against the platinum. This style of bracelet is intended to be worn alone, not next to- another bracelet. Still another favourite, though costly, design is of filigree-gold about a quarter of an inch wide, and studded at intervals of one inch with coloured stones, emeralds, turquoises, rubies, or amethysts. There is no metal back of the stones to detract from their brilliancy, and the stones seem to : scintillate with the prismatic hues of the rainbow. ■} - s • Some of the quainter bracelets are : quite i stiff, and" of an old design, and Egyptian, j Moorish, and Italian bracelets have-been reproduced and brought up to date ': for this.season's wear. These are all-more or less gorgeous, for the reason that quantities of semi-precious stones are used in their mate-up. " •' 1
