TEACHERS' GARDENS.
Sir, would like to ask teachers this question Why is.it that so few of the headteachers ' who... have, residences have nice flower gardens in front or anywhere about them? As' a rule, the teacher's ground is in a disgraceful condition. ' Are the headteachers too lazy to dig, or does not the Education Board offer any inducement to teachers to improve- '.their grounds. I am afraid that the amount of garden knowledge that our children will derive from the teachers will be very small. I am glad to say there are a few bright exceptions to the general state of affairs. At Manawaru school, when out for a drivo with a party from To Arolia, we. noticed a most gorgeous display of flowers in quite a large garden in front of the teacher's residence. 1 made a note of it at the timehad to get the driver to socll tho. name of the place. That garden and grounds, for its size, presented a greater show of flowers than the To Aroha Domain, and the teacher deserved great credit for it. I have, not . seen any other teacher's garden to compare with it. Now, teachers, are you too lazy, or is gardening infra dig. Travellei!.
