COLLINS' WRITING COMPETITIONS.
Sir, notico in the issue of the Herald of the 30th inst. that the Board of Education have forwarded their congratulations to tho headmaster of the Paeroa District High School on his success in having gained more prizes than any other school in the colony at the last three Collins' writing competitions. This, however, is not correct, for, against the whole colony, in last year's prize giving, Taupiri school secured 22 prizes, while tho Paeroa District High School was awarded 21. lam aware that this does not appear a great mistake in the matter of numbers, but when one considers that the roll number of the Taupiri school was at the time 96, and that of Paeroa about 400, the excellence of the writing might well have met with some slight mark of approval from the Board of Education. Trusting you will insert this as soon as possible, in order that our school may receive tho credit due to it. A. H. Waring, Chairman Taupiri School Committee,
